About two years ago, I drove on the Autobahn, the subject of this week’s Free Image. The drive was part of a road trip from Berlin to a small village in Bavaria. Originally, the thought of driving on a highway that had pockets of space with No Speed Limit was slightly terrifying.

Here’s the thing. I’m an incredibly safe driver. I always buckle up. I always obey the speed limit. I always signal my turns (even in parking lots). Or as my friends like to call it, “driving like my grandmother.” But something happened during my German journey along the Autobahn. I became invigorated by these moments of “speedom” (speed + freedom, a word I just made up). I turned into a Speed Demon.
