Earn More Money Per Photo with Special Licensing!

BigStockPhoto has agreements with photo buyers whose needs fall outside of our regular Photo Usage Agreement. Typically, the buyers simply wish to re-print the photos on cards, mugs, framed paintings, etc. and many other uses. We negotiate higher per-photo prices for these users after determining their specific photo usage needs, and share the extra profits with our photographers who agree to allow their photos to be used for these Special License purposes.

Some ground-rules of Special Licensing:

• There are a number of Special Licenses, each with different terms and usages - some earn you more, some earn you less - earnings are based on how demanding the needs of the photo buyer are. You review them to see if you are OK with their terms and click to sell your photos under any or all of them. You can change these settings as often as you like.
• BigStockPhoto does not enter into any Special License deals that we believe will adversely affect our photographers. This is subjective, but we are only talking to photo buyers with fair and legitimate needs.
• Most of the time you will probably never see your photo in use under the Special License - for instance the buyer may be printing the image on a some t-shirts or on canvas, or using it in a poster, anywhere on the globe. Chances are only a few people will never see it and it will not affect the marketability of your photos in any way.
• You can opt-in or opt-out at any time. Once a photo is actually downloaded for a particular Special License use, you cannot opt that particular photo out of the agreement however.
• Commission payout on all special licensing deals is at least 35% or more - among the highest in microstock industry.
• You can be selective and apply these on a per-photo basis if needed. By clicking the agreement checkbox you'll set ALL your photos to be part of your agreement, but you can selectively remove some photos from the agreement within your "Account : Uploads" area if needed.
• Take advantage of all the photo buyers willing to pay much more than a couple bucks per photo
• Boost your sales - in some cases, dramatically - without doing any extra work

What rules apply to Special Licensing?
Except where otherwise specified, standard Photo Usage Agreement also applies to Special Licensing deals. Special Licenses follow all the same rules that our Photo Usage Agreement specifies, except as mentioned in the Special License descriptions at the lower part of your "Special Licensing Opportunities" main page.

Opting In and Opting Out - Up To 2 Business Days For Changes to Take Effect
Photographers can opt-in or opt-out of any Special Licensing opportunity at any time the BigStockPhoto.com website is available. Opting-in or opting-out is something photographers do themselves within their "Accounts : Uploads" area. This means you elect to agree to let your photos be purchased under whichever special licenses you wish. BigStockPhoto Support will not be able to change the options for you.

Changing your Default Special Licensing Options for your photos can take up anywhere from 12 hours to 2 business days to take effect on the web site.

Photos Purchased Under Special License Cannot Be Reclaimed
As with photos purchased under our normal Photo Usage Agreement, once a photo is purchased under a Special License, the photographer cannot re-claim the photo from being used for the purpose in which it was purchased. Photographers still retain all copyrights to their photos of course, regardless of the usage mentioned in the Special License.

Commissions
BigStockPhoto pays at least 35% of the fees obtained from Special License buyers to photographers, among the highest in the microstock industry. Normally a commission under a Special License is between $5.25 and $58 per image (between 10 and 100 times the normal .50 commission rate), depending on the license and image size.
