I have had an interest in photography since I was quite young, although I didn't realise it until recently. My first camera was a 50p click and go which my Mother bought me in the early 70's, around the age of 9 or 10, and the pictures are still around somewhere in family archives! Black and white of course! I was then given a Kodak Instamatic camera and got into slide photography for some reason.
I was a teenager and started working, I got myself my first SLR camera and a book on the subject. I started playing around with different film ISOs, shutter speeds and apertures etc.
Around the mid nineties, I landed myself a job with a free local newspaper, selling advertising in a psychic and holistic therapies section, but somehow it turned into my own section of the newspaper and I used to take my own photographs too. It was a learning curve, as I've had no formal training, but the guy who I took my films to, to be developed (not digital then!), assured me that my pictures were no worse than those of the photographer of the local Gazette. I chose to think that the other photographer was quite good but it may not have been the case! :o)
Since then, I\'ve progressed to a digital camera, and have had a few of those. Some really basic! I currently have a Nikon Coolpix E3500 which has served me well as a mid-price camera and has a really good macro feature on it. I've finally started uploading some of my pictures to sites such as these but I really need to get a 6MP camera, or more, so that the images I take can be enlarged more than at present. I want to go back to using an SLR, but digital this time, but unfortunately, sales from my photographs will have to pay for the camera as they are still quite expensive. :o(
Please feel free to browse my gallery and show your friends if there's a picture that you especially like. I love taking pictures of animals, birds in particular, and anything to do with nature. Close-up shots of flowers please my eye too. I'll upload more pictures as I take them. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoy taking them.
